Wood
Badge was
the name given to adult leader training by Our Founder, Baden - Powell, many years ago. Today,
Scouts Canada offers two levels of Wood Badge Training: Basic
Program Planning , and Advanced
Outdoor Skills and Program Planning.
Woodbadge
I Basic Program
Planning develops the confidence and
skills required for a leaders role and provides an orientation
to the role. The course focuses on program planning, program
delivery, leadership skills, administration and outdoor skills.
It is offered in 4 Modules.
Module
A - focuses on Team
Leadership and skills needed in planning and running a program.
Module
B - focuses on the
outdoor skills required to take your youth outside camping or
just for the night. It is a one day session offered twice a
year
Module
C - focuses on Child
Abuse Awareness, how to protect
our youth and ourselves.
(Note that modules A & C are
offered in the same day)
Module
D focuses on section
specific program requirements and is completed by the leader working
with youth in that section and delivering the section program
at meetings. Completion of the module requires that leader have
their Group Commissioner or another senior leader in the group
evaluate and attest to the successful completion of the individual
section specific learning objectives.
Woodbadge
II Advanced Outdoor Skills and Program Planning is a comprehensive course to help
Beaver, Cub, Scout and Venturer
Scouters further develop their skills in working with youth and
adults. It is a ‘hands - on' training experience
developing programs, working with others and camping. In
addition, the course will further develop your confidence in
your scouting role and increase your knowledge of Scouting.
This course is usually held over 2 weekends.
Other
Leader Development
Quebec Council also offers a variety
of other skill courses from time to time. These courses may
include Winter Camping, Canoe Instruction and others. Once
sufficient interest is shown, these courses, or others, will be
offered. See calendar
